Forum Theatre — Keynotes & Opening

Level 1, Arts West Building.
All keynote lectures, the conference opening and closing ceremonies take place in the Forum Theatre.

Tram

Routes 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67, 72 stop on Swanston St at Stop 1 (Melbourne University), a 5-min walk. Routes 19 and 59 run along Royal Parade (Stop 13, University of Melbourne), a 3-min walk from Arts West. Free tram zone covers the CBD — Swanston St trams are free south of Elgin St.

Train

Parkville Station (Metro Tunnel line) is a 3-min walk from Arts West — the closest and most convenient option. Melbourne Central Station (City Loop) is also accessible, a 15-min walk or short tram ride northbound on Swanston St.

Parking

Wilson Parking on Leicester St is the closest public option. The University Square Car Park on Grattan St is primarily for University staff — public availability is limited and not guaranteed. Street parking is very limited. Tram or bike strongly recommended.

Cycling

Secure bike cages available on campus. Melbourne Bike Share docking stations on Swanston St and nearby streets.

On Campus

Use your coffee vouchers to get a coffee from HoHos at Grainger Museum (2 mins walk from Arts West, see map in your conference bag). University House (at the end of Professor's Walk) is also a good option (closed on Saturday).

Lygon Street

Carlton's famous restaurant strip is a 10-min walk east. Excellent Italian restaurants, cafés and wine bars — perfect for conference dinners.

Grattan Street

Several cafés and lunch spots on Grattan St south of campus, including options along the strip towards Carlton.
